Upgrade

Are you upgrading an previous version of RecordPress? We are struggling to achieve our goal, to make future upgrades easy as a pancake (pancakes really that easy!?)!

While we are working towards our goal to make standardized installations, some differences may apply! So check this page every time you’re about to upgrade your installation of RecordPress!

Upgrade from version 0.2.9 or 0.3 to version 0.3.1:

  1. First we must copy and replace the new files. Just copy over allthe files except the images, and upload folders with it’s containing files and do NOT replace the dbconn.php file. So leave the images, uploads folder (with its containing files) and the dbconn.php file. Just copy and replace everything else!Attention! The stylesheets (CSS) has been redesigned in the 0.3.1 release! Your old stylesheets will NOT work! If you have other themes installed, you must download and update them separately. The standard CSS theme delivered for RecordPress is Origen. We have made structural changes that hopefully is easier to understand if you’d like to create or modify excisting themes!

If you should have accidentally replaced the dbconn.php file you must re-edit it and change to the right values to gain access to your MySQL database.

  2. Now set your install folder permission to 777 with your FTP software, so RecordPress get permission to automatically delete the installation files for you!

  3. Now go to https://www.yourwebsite.com/install/ and select Upgrade to start the upgrade process. Do NOT select install!
  4. Follow the short upgrade instructions! When upgrade is finished just click on one of the two links (one leads to your website and the other to your admin page) to automatically delete the installation files. If you skip to click on one of these links or the installation software wasn’t able to delete the files, you must manually remove them with your FTP software. Just remove the install folder and it’s containing files!
  5. Did everything go well, or did you stumble upon problems? Then our forum is the best place to visit!

Thank you for upgrading RecordPress!
